No guarantees Cowboys DE Spencer plays Week 2
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Anthony Spencer was reduced to a coaching role Sunday night. The Dallas Cowboys defensive end wasn't in uniform during the team's 36-31 win over the New York Giants.
But Spencer, who is still recovering from arthroscopic left knee surgery July 25, said he ran Saturday and would do the same Monday.
"It felt good this morning so I'm just going to keep working it, seeing where I'm at on Monday and Wednesday," Spencer said after the game. "Just try to work myself back into practice."
Spencer wasn't making any predictions on when he would return to practice, though. The 29-year-old suffered a setback last weekend when he experienced swelling in his left knee. If the swelling doesn't return, Spencer will have a chance to practice and then possibly play.
"Just see how it is on Tuesday and go from there," he said.
"I want to see him have his days the way he had these last two," Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said. "If he'll come out and basically respond the way he has the last two, then he'll play."
