GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Minnesota goaltender Eric Schierhorn made 34 saves and held No. 4 North Dakota scoreless for the game’s first 53 minutes to help propel the No. 8 Gopher men's hockey team to a 2-1 win on Friday night at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

The Gophers built a two-goal lead and held on for a 2-1 victory before a sellout crowd of 11,862 at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

After a first-period goal by Rem Pitlick, the Gophers tallied another in the third as Steve Johnson wristed a shot into the upper-left corner at the 12:08 mark.

Pitlick set up Johnson’s game-winning tally while also adding a goal of his own to lead the Maroon & Gold.

Less than two minutes later, North Dakota's Rhett Gardner cut the lead in half but the Gophers were able to hold on for their third win of the season.
