No. 14 NAU hosts North Dakota on military day
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona will look to extends its winning streak to four games Saturday when it hosts North Dakota for Services and Military Appreciation Day. Kickoff at the Walkup Skydome is set for 4:05 p.m.
The Lumberjacks are ranked No. 14 in The Sports Network and Football Championship Subdivision coaches poll this week.
Saturday's game, which will have Mitch Strohman providing play-by-play and Kevin Stephens doing color commentary, will be televised live on FOX Sports Arizona PLUS (DISH 445 SD and 9515 HD; DirecTV 695 SD and 695-1 HD). FOX Sports North will also air the game live, and FOX College Sports Pacific will join in progress live at approximately 6:30 p.m.
NAU, which has won three straight overall, will also be looking for a fourth straight win at the Walkup Skydome, where the Lumberjacks are perfect on the season. They played only one home game last month, that a 39-30 win over Idaho State as part of homecoming festivities. Last week, NAU pulled out a 17-13 road win over Cal Poly. The Lumberjacks haven't lost since Oct. 5, when they suffered a 36-7 road defeat at Montana State.
There is an opportunity for history to be made Saturday, as NAU senior running back Zach Bauman is 25 yards shy of becoming the ninth player in FCS history to rush for 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons. He’s also 173 yards shy of claiming the school record for career all-purpose yards.
North Dakota enters on a three-game skid after losses to Eastern Washington, Sacramento State and Portland State. The last time North Dakota won a road game was on Oct. 5 in a 28-25 victory over Idaho State. UND is 2-6 overall and 1-4 in conference play this season.
