NMSU routed by Arkansas State on the road
JONESBORO, Ark. -- Fredi Knighten and Michael Gordon each accounted for four touchdowns to lead Arkansas State to a 68-35 rout of New Mexico State on Saturday night.
Gordon's 19-yard scoring run gave the Red Wolves the lead for good, 27-21 with 6:18 to play in the second quarter. Gordon had scoring runs of 35 and 8 yards, and finished with 143 yards. It was his fifth 100-yard rushing game in the past seven games.
Knighten threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Gordon, and connected with Kenneth Rains for a 22-yard score. Knighten had scoring runs of 14 and 2 yards, and finished with 153-yards rushing and 296-yards passing.
Andrew Tryon scored on a 46-yard interception return for Arkansas State (7-5, 5-3 Sun Belt Conference) with 1:52 to play.
Tyler Rogers threw for 314 yards and four touchdown passes, and Larry Rose III ran for two TDs to lead the Aggies (2-10, 1-7).
