NMSU no match for Fla. Atlantic in 45-point loss

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Jaquez Johnson threw for three touchdowns and the defense blocked a punt to score another Saturday as Florida Atlantic rolled over New Mexico State 55-10.

Florida Atlantic (5-6, 4-4 Conference USA) racked up 585 yards of total offense, with 256 yards rushing, including Lucky Whitehead's 26-yard scoring run in the first quarter.

The Owls led 28-7 at halftime on passes by Johnson of 64 yards to Whitehead and 6 yards to Nexon Dorvilus and on a punt blocked by Randell Johnson that Damian Fortner recovered for a score.

Florida Atlantic finished strong, with Jay Warren scoring on a 1-yard run and Johnson connecting with Dorvilus on a 33-yard TD pass in the third. Fortner scored on a 26-yard run and D'Joun Smith on a 1-yarder in the fourth.

Andrew McDonald scored for the Aggies (1-10) on a 1-yard run and Kawe Johnson added a field goal.
