NFL Quick Hits: Turf toe for Julio

NFL Quick Hits: Turf toe for Julio

Published Dec. 9, 2016 1:07 p.m. ET

With your fantasy playoffs ready to begin, news on the injury front isn’t so bad. Falcons WR Julio Jones suffered a turf toe injury on Sunday, and his status is TBD.  Head coach Dan Quinn said, “Hopefully, he’s short-time and we’ll get a chance to see what he looks like on Wednesday.” Probably nothing to worry about here.

In other news ...

The Broncos placed RB Kapri Bibbs (ankle) on injured reserve and signed Justin Forsett. As Devontae Booker has averaged 2.8 yards on 95 carries over the last five weeks and Bibbs appeared to be taking over on Sunday, Forsett (owned in 24.1 percent of FOXSports.com leagues) makes some sense as a stash/handcuff. Remember that Forsett rushed for 1,266 yards in 2014, when current Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak was his offensive coordinator in Baltimore. Yeah, maybe Forsett is done at age 31. Or maybe not.

The Broncos also hope that QB Trevor Siemian (foot) will be ready to return Sunday at Tennessee.

The Washington Post reports that there’s still a "level of uncertainty" about Redskins TE Jordan Reed, who missed Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury. Stay tuned.

The 49ers haven’t given any hints on whether Colin Kaepernick will be back under center in Week 14 after his benching in Chicago. Despite Keapernick’s epic flop, you can absolutely consider him for fantasy purposes if he starts against the Jets. He averaged 27.6 fantasy points over six games prior to Sunday.

It sounds like Robert Griffin III will start Sunday for the Browns. Before getting hurt in Week 1, Griffin completed 12 of 26 passes for 190 yards with an interception, and ran five times for 37 yards. He’s not a recommended fantasy option.

Jaguars RB Denard Robinson suffered a high-ankle sprain on Sunday, so we won’t see him for awhile. Jags head coach Gus Bradley said Monday that Chris Ivory’s status is still TBD for Week 14, so T.J. Yeldon could have the backfield all to himself against the Vikings. Yeldon wouldn’t be a great option, but not many backs will be in line for 20 touches this week.

Notes from Monday’s Colts-Jets matchup: Put a big mental asterisk next to Dwayne Allen’s name for that time in the offseason when you check stats and say, "Hey, he was a top-20 tight end!" Allen’s three touchdowns against the Jets will mask an extremely disappointing season ... The Jets announced after the game that Bryce Petty will start at quarterback over the final four weeks. In one half of garbage-time play, Petty targeted WR Robby Anderson 11 times, completing four passed for 61 yards and a touchdown. Anderson is available in almost all FOXSports.com leagues, and is an interesting free-agent pickup.

Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (groin) was limited in Monday’s practice, and is "making improvement" according to head coach Andy Reid. Maclin’s status for Thursday’s matchup with the Raiders is still TBD.

Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter expects RB Charles Sims (knee) to be activated this week. Don’t expect much from Sims right now with Doug Martin and Jacquizz Rodgers still around, unless Martin's Week 13 injury (he said he was "bent back") is more of an issue than we know. Sims is owned in 21.1 percent of FOXSports.com leagues.

The Eagles expect both RB Ryan Mathews (knee) and WR Jordan Matthews (ankle) to return against the Redskins.

As everyone in your league engages in mortal combat tonight for the right to pick up tight ends Ladarius Green and Dennis Pitta, C.J. Fiedorowicz (18.6 percent owned) remains as a decent consolation prize. Fiedorowicz caught six passes for 44 yards in Week 13, and faces a very beatable Colts’ defense on Sunday. He’s the No. 13 PPR tight end for the season.

The Lions didn’t offer much info Monday on Dwayne Washington’s ankle injury, but Detroit Free Press beat writer Dave Birkett tweeted Monday that he thought the team might bring back Justin Forsett in the wake of Washington’s injury. That can’t be good for Washington, right? Zach Zenner ran nine times for 40 yards in Washington’s place.

Seahawks free safety Earl Thomas is done for the season due to a broken leg. The Cowboys’ path to the Super Bowl clears more all the time, doesn’t it?
