NFL.com mock drafts: Cowboys No. 18 pick

Five analysts from NFL.com released their mock drafts recently and all five have the Cowboys selecting a different player with the No. 18 overall pick.

The names linked with the Cowboys included Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei, Missouri defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, North Carolina offensive guard Jonathan Cooper, LSU safety Eric Reid and Central Michigan offensive tackle Eric Fisher.

As an example of how it's probably too early to construct mock drafts, none of those names matched with any of the projections made in our most recent mock draft roundup.

Bucky Brooks went with Lotulelei because he says, "Monte Kiffin needs an athletic defensive tackle capable of playing the one or three technique to implement his vaunted Tampa 2 scheme in Dallas."

Josh Norris chose Richardson for a similar reason, writing that, "Richardson would fit nicely at three technique and offers enough positional versatility to play end in a three-man front if the defense reverts back to its previous scheme."

Daniel Jeremiah picked Cooper and Charles Davis named Reid.

Former Cowboys vice president of player personnel Gil Brandt predicted the Cowboys would go with Fisher because he "has tons of upside" and "could step in and start at right tackle immediately."

Here are the player comparisons that the NFL.com draft bios make for each prospect:

Lotulelei: Haloti Ngata, Ravens.

Richardson: Cullen Jenkins, Eagles.

Cooper: Ben Grubbs, Saints.

Reid: Mark Barron, Buccaneers.

Fisher: Joe Staley, 49ers.
