Next viral Dayton headline could come from you
The University of Dayton men's basketball team is on quite a run over the past week -- and so is the Flyers' hometown newspaper.
After drawing a major amount of attention for its headline -- "THE University of Dayton" -- following the Flyers' victory over Ohio State in the round of 64 last week, the Dayton Daily News produced more blog fodder Wednesday by running an ad from a local business that wished UD luck in the Sweet 16 against Stanford.
Now the paper is turning to its readers for help in keeping that streak of viral content going.
"Well, we won't lie -- it was fun writing a headline like that," writes DDN staffer Ron Rollins. "And since we're too nice to keep all the fun to ourselves, we're going to give you the chance to try it yourself."
Yep, that's right -- the paper is taking submissions for the headline for its Friday edition. They can be submitted via Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #DDNheadline, but there is a cut-off time of 10:30 Thursday night to meet the paper's publishing deadline.
It should be fun to see what fans can come up with if UD knocks off Stanford to advance to the Elite 8. Then again, the results might be even more interesting if the Flyers crash in the regional semifinal after fans from schools across the country have been introduced to them over the past week.
