Cam Newton knows how to celebrate a landmark victory.
Shortly after the second-year quarterback piloted the red-hot Panthers — winners of six straight games — to a 24-20 win over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on Monday night, his family lived it up at an area Waffle House until approximately 3 a.m., according to a report in The Charlotte Observer.
That allowed the perpetually upbeat Newton to get a few valuable hours of solid sleep before his next gig — emceeing an event at the Collinswood Language Academy, where the Cam Newton Foundation donated $75,000 to three area schools (Collinswood, Reid Park Academy, the Berryhill School).
With parents, students and school administrators on hand, the check-donation ceremony quickly transformed into a pep rally upon Newton's arrival, honoring the schools and Newton's Panthers, of course.
And Newton entertained the masses with a few dance moves, while encouraging the administrators to join him in the revelry.
Therein lies the power of a winning franchise in a city without a long NFL heritage. The Panthers, with the help of their transcendent talent, have a chance to make history in the community everyday.
