NAPIER, New Zealand (AP) The second one-day international between New Zealand and Pakistan was abandoned because of rain on Thursday without a ball being bowled.
New Zealand will take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series into Sunday's final match at Auckland.
Umpires Billy Bowden of New Zealand and Bruce Oxenford of Australia made the decision to abandon the match after their fourth ground inspection at 6.20 p.m. local time, more than four hours after the scheduled start.
Heavy rain had fallen in Napier for almost two days and the playing surface at McLean Park was inundated, with large pools of water around the outfield.
