GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Wide receiver Jordy Nelson is expected to be out at least one month and could potentially miss the Green Bay Packers' regular-season opener after undergoing knee surgery Monday.
Nelson had missed the Packers' previous two practices before the decision to have the operation done.
Coach Mike McCarthy announced that Nelson would miss the remainder of training camp but added that "our hope is for Jordy to be ready" for a Week 1 game against the San Francisco 49ers, a rematch of last season's divisional playoff game.
Nelson, 28, led Green Bay in every receiving category in 2011 with 68 catches, 1,263 yards, 15 touchdowns and 47 first downs.
However, last season, Nelson missed four games with hamstring and ankle injuries and his statistical production dropped off, finishing with 49 catches, 745 yards and seven touchdowns.
