NBA Summer League recap: Spurs 89, Bucks 74
The Milwaukee Bucks' summer-league woes continued into their second matchup, culminating in an 89-74 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in which the Bucks only scored 2 fast-break points to the victor's 16.
Four Bucks players scored 11 points to tie for the team lead in Sunday's contest: Cameron Clark, Jorge Gutierrez, Sean Kilpatrick and Rashad Vaughn. Micheal Eric scored 10 points and led the Bucks with 9 rebounds.
Milwaukee, now 0-2 in summer-league play in Las Vegas, scored 32 points in the paint to San Antonio's 18, but weren't making -- or attempting -- enough 3-point shots to compete. Kilpatrick sank the Bucks' first two 3-pointers in the first quarter and made 3 of 5 overall. The only other Buck to attempt five from 3-point territory was Vaughn, who only made one of those attempts.
Kyle Anderson scored 22 points for the Spurs, scoring nearly half of those points on 10 (of 11) made free throws.
Starting five: The Bucks' starting lineup consisted of Damien Inglis, Kevin Jones and Micheal Eric in the frontcourt, with Vaughn and Jorge Gutierrez in the backcourt.
The Vaughn report: The No. 17 overall pick, who averaged 17.8 points at UNLV, hasn't wowed with his offense in summer-league play yet. But after suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee in February and missing the NCAA tournament, getting in 32:16 of play in Sunday's matchup would seem to indicate he's ready to put the injury behind him.
Next: The Bucks take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (0-2) in their next summer-league matchup Monday at 3 p.m. CT
