NAU handles Campbell in Vegas invitational
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Gaellan Bewernick, Gabe Rogers and DeWayne Russell each scored 13 points and Northern Arizona shot 56 percent from the floor en route to a 70-62 victory over Campbell on Saturday at the Global Sports Classic.
Max Jacobsen added 11 points for the Lumberjacks (2-3), who hit six of their first 11 3-pointers and led 39-28 at halftime. Bewernick also had nine rebounds as Northern Arizona held a 38-18 edge on points in the paint.
Darren White led Campbell (2-5) with 17 points. Trey Freeman added 15 points and seven assists, while Marvelle Harris had 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Fighting Camels shot 41 percent from the field but went just 5 for 23 from 3-point range. They pulled within 65-60 with 2:57 to play on a Reco McCarter 3-pointer, but Jacobsen scored on the next possession and the Camels never got closer than seven down the stretch.
