EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State defensive end William Gholston, despite reports that he had informed Spartans coach Mark Dantonio he was leaving, had not confirmed his decision to forego his junior season as MSU tailback Le’Veon Bell and tight end Dion Sims had on Thursday.
But recently, through his Twitter account @Will_Gholston2, he tweeted: “I love my #SPARTANDAWGS and the entire #SpartanNation. I talked with Coach D and Duzz (defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi) about my choice to forgo the upcoming season.”
Gholston, from Detroit Southeastern High, had 59 tackles, 13 tackles for losses, three sacks, one safety and one interception in 2012.
ESPN Scouts Inc. listed Bell the No. 2 running back in the draft and No. 81 overall prospect, while it had Sims the No. 4 tight end and No. 77 overall. NFLDraftScout.com has Gholston ranked 10th among defensive ends, and he has been projected to go as high as the second round or as low as the fourth round.
