Morris leads UTEP to 73-55 win over Texas-San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Earvin Morris made 4 of 9 from long range to score a career-high 23 points and lead UTEP to a 73-55 victory over Texas-San Antonio in Conference USA play on Saturday.

Morris also had two steals and one blocked shot. Cedrick Lang and Julian Washburn had 11 apiece for UTEP (12-5, 4-1).

The Miners held a slim 30-26 halftime advantage and were up 46-35 with 13:11 left. Morris nailed two consecutive 3-pointers and followed with a layup to give UTEP a 63-48 lead at the 4:10 mark. The Miners held UTSA to seven points in the final 4:10.

UTEP made 27 of 55 field goal attempts (49.1 percent) while limiting the Roadrunners to 20-of-52 shooting (38.5 percent). The Miners scored 24 points off turnovers. UTSA had 15.

Kaj-Bjorn Sherman and Larry Lewis Jr. had 11 apiece and Jeromie Hill added 10 for UTSA (8-8, 2-3).
