ST. LOUIS -- Mizzou announced Kim Anderson as its new basketball coach on Monday afternoon and Twitter exploded with the news and reaction.

Anderson, who played at Missouri under Norm Stewart and later worked under Stewart as an assistant, had been the coach at Central Missouri for the past 12 seasons.

Here's a sampling of what some former Tigers players, some Central Missouri players and Missouri high school coaches said about the hiring:

Current player Ryan Rosburg was pleased to see a hire from within the Mizzou family.

Kim English and Laurence Bowers, both of whom played for both Mike Anderson and Frank Haith at Mizzou, were quick to endorse the new coach.

Former Tiger DeMarre Carroll offered his take as well.

The University of Central Missouri congratulated Anderson on his new job.

Several of the players Anderson coached at Central Missouri, where the Mules won a Division II national championship last season, weighed in as well.

The hiring looks to be a hit with some of the high school coaches throughout the state who have gotten to know Anderson over the years.
