OXFORD, Miss. -- Bo Wallace will start at quarterback when Mississippi hosts Central Arkansas on Saturday in the season opener.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound junior college transfer from Pulaski, Tenn., has been battling for the starting spot with junior Barry Brunetti. First-year coach Hugh Freeze has said both quarterbacks will play against Central Arkansas.

Wallace is considered a better passer than Brunetti, though Brunetti is more adept at running the football. Wallace threw for 4,604 yards and 53 touchdowns last season for East Mississippi Community College before signing with the Rebels and going through spring drills.

The 6-foot, 215-pound Brunetti played in five games last season for Ole Miss, starting two. He completed 19 of 35 passes for 144 yards and also rushed for 110 yards.
