ANAHEIM, Calif. -- For the first time this season, Mike Trout is not in the starting lineup for the Angels.
The Angels' all star center fielder has been given the day off by Angels manager Mike Scioscia due to tightness in his left hamstring.
Trout was the designated hitter in an attempt to get him off of his feet in the Angels' 9-3 win over Houston Tuesday. He left the game for a pinch runner after a single in the fifth inning because of the tightness.
Following the game he said had it been a closer game he would have stayed in the game and expected to be back in the lineup Wednesday but that is not the case.
"Scioscia told me a couple days ago if it was still sore (or) if I felt anything in there that he'd give me the two days off," Trout said referring to Wednesday's game and Thursday's team off day. "I'm just trying to take it as it is, get the treatment today and I'll be ready to go Friday, for sure."

Trout said he first noticed there was an issue during the team's last road trip in Toronto, although he didn't immediately say anything to the Angels training staff.
He contends he's "not worried about it." Both he and Scioscia say Trout will be available late in the game Wednesday if needed.
