A new addition to the Browns' personnel staff is getting rave reviews from some respected NFL peers.

The Browns made official Thursday the naming of Morocco Brown as the team's vice president of player personnel.

Brown spent the past five years in Washington, where he served as director of pro personnel and worked closely with former head coach Mike Shananan, who gave a glowing review.

"He's a hard worker. He's bright. He's detailed. He enjoys studying film, and he takes his job very seriously. He's got a great eye for talent," Shanahan said about Brown. "He's one of the best I've been around."

Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Kein was a college teammate of Brown's.

"I first learned what a quality person Morocco is when we played together at NC State," Keim said. "In following his career as a personnel evaluator in the NFL, I see many of the same qualities that made him a great teammate and player: Hard work, commitment, intelligence and instincts."

Brown played a key part in helping the Redskins acquire wide receiver Pierre Garcon, the Browns said in a press release.

Before joining Washington, Brown was the Bears' assistant director of pro personnel for seven seasons, one of which resulted in a conference championship.

Brown is a Virginia native and his brother Milan is the head men's basketball coach at Holy Cross.
