MIAMI -- Eager to fill their final roster spot with depth at the power forward position, the Miami Heat announced Thursday the signing of Michael Beasley to a 10-day contract.

Beasley, 26, begins his third stint with the Heat. The former No. 2 overall draft pick in 2008 out of Kansas State played his first two seasons with the Heat before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the summer of 2010. After moving on to the Phoenix Suns, he later signed a non-guaranteed contract on Sept. 11, 2013, to return to the Heat and averaged 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 15.1 minutes while shooting 49.9 percent from the floor in 55 games.

Across three total seasons in Miami, Beasley has averaged 12.7 points on 46.6 percent field goal shooting, 5.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 24.1 minutes in 214 games.

Most recently, Beasley played with the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association and averaged 27.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.92 steals in 37 games, including a 59-point outburst off the bench in the CBA All-Star Game to set a record.

He was spotted working out at the practice court at the AmericanAirlines Arena last week amid talk of mutual interest between both parties. The Heat were depleted in the frontcourt after Chris Bosh was lost for the season as he recuperates from being diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs as well as a three-team trade that saw the departure of Shawne Williams, Danny Granger and Justin Hamilton.

Beasley will wear number 30 for the Heat.
