Meyer speaks out on Carlos Hyde 3-game suspension

Curious college football fans weren't the only ones watching the surveillance tape released by the Columbus Police Department Tuesday, showing the early-morning incident that got Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde suspended.
Hyde's head coach was watching, too.
On Tuesday night, Urban Meyer announced a suspension of at least three games for Hyde, who wasn't charged in the incident. The tape showed Hyde being struck by a woman and Hyde taking a swing at her in retaliation, though it's unclear if he struck her.
"Our players are taught to walk away, and he's suspended because he didn't walk away," Meyer said during a preseason media tour Wednesday.
Hyde will have to earn his way back into action and into Meyer's good graces. Meyer said too many Ohio State players have been in trouble or haven't lived up to the program's standards, and those incidents allowed Meyer an opportunity to dole out what he considers a strong punishment for Hyde.
"We expect certain behavior or you won't play," Meyer said, adding that "everything (Hyde) did was wrong."
Meyer also said that if Hyde had been charged in the incident, he would have been dismissed from Ohio State's program. An indefinite suspension was announced for Hyde early last week, and Meyer said at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago last week that he needed the facts before deciding on an exact punishment.
