Mets fans destroy owners after report says Cespedes may sign with Nationals
Almost immediately following FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal report that the Washington Nationals were in heavy pursuit of free-agent outfielder Yoenis Cespedes on Thursday, Mets fans took direct aim at the New York team's owners.
Father-and-son duo Fred and Jeff Wilpon were lambasted by the scores of New York faithful tired of their team not spending big money.
Add in that Cespedes, who carried the Mets to the postseason last season, may sign with a division rival, and it made for the perfect Twitter storm.

Just remember kids you can have whatever you want in life...as long as you don't expect the @mets to pay for it #wilpons @metsgm

If the @Mets let @ynscspds get away, to the Nats of all teams, the Wilpons won't get a dime from me next season. Fans held up their end

It's sad that the Mets are a small-market team in the nation's biggest market because of how cheap the Wilpons are. https://t.co/yh4APROqN1

The Wilpons shouldn't come out and be seen in the public eye for a long time if he signs with the Nats. Unreal. https://t.co/5hNQPPTg9e

it's disgusting you haven't taken the Mets from the Wilpons yet. @MLB

If Cespedes goes the Nats and the MLB doesn't force Wilpons out for pocketing WS revenue we definitely riot and burn down something #Mets

If cespedes signs with nationals i could see the wilpons having to drive around in the pope mobile for safety from now on #MetsTwitter

@Mets Just take a few days off twitter. It's for everyone's own good.

@Mets If you let the Nats sign Cespedes, all hell will break loose... Just a warning
