Mets bullpen catcher arrested for alleged DUI
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say New York Mets bullpen catcher Eric Langill has been charged in a drunken driving crash in central Florida.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office reports that the 32-year-old Langill was arrested Sunday night after losing control at a traffic circle, crashing into a concrete fountain and flipping his car.
According to an arrest report, Langill smelled heavily of alcohol and failed a field sobriety test. The report didn't indicate if a blood-alcohol test was performed.
Langill was arrested and charged with DUI with property damage. He was released from jail Monday morning.
"We obviously are disturbed by last night's arrest. We will address next steps after we sort through the facts and speak with Eric," the Mets said in a statement.
