LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) Medal Count rode the rail to rally for a 1¼-length victory in the $100,000 Transylvania for 3-year-olds on Friday's opening day at Keeneland.

Ridden by Robby Albarado, Medal Count covered 1 1/16 miles on the main track in 1:43.35 and paid $8, $4.20 and $3.40. Initially scheduled as a Grade 3 stakes race on the turf course, it was moved following rain on Thursday night and Friday morning and downgraded pending review by the Graded Stakes Committee.

Medal Count steadily moved up the rail down the backstretch and waited for room inside approaching the far turn before finding it in the final stretch.

Picozza was second with John Velazquez aboard and returned $5.60 and $4.20. Woodfield Springs was a neck back in third and paid $4.60.
