CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (AP) Brendon McCullum has posted the fastest century in test cricket history, from 54 balls, in his last international match before retirement.
McCullum hit a four from Josh Hazlewood - the 16th four of an innings which also included four sixes - to beat by two balls the previous record shared by Viv Richards and Misbah-ul-Haq.
The New Zealand captain came to the wicket with his team in trouble at 32-3 half an hour before lunch and had hit 37 from 18 balls by the break. He then went on a rampage after lunch, hitting 63 runs from his next 36 balls to reach his 12th test century in 78 minutes.
