Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, who has thrown for 33 touchdowns and just five interceptions this season, has been named a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Trophy which is awarded to college football's best quarterback.

Trevone Boykin of TCU and Deshaun Watson of Clemson are the other finalists.

Oklahoma is 9-1 this season and ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press and Coaches Poll. Clemson is ranked No. 1 and unbeaten. TCU has two losses and Boykin did not play in last week's 30-29 loss to Oklahoma.

Mayfield, a junior walk-on, transferred from Oklahoma after starting about half the year at Texas Tech two seasons ago as a freshman. He sat out all of last season, but has come in and rejuvenated the Sooners this year after and 8-5 record a year ago.
