Mavs sign former lottery pick Jianlian
The Dallas Mavericks bolstered the end of their bench and
added more size to their front court after coming to an agreement with free
agent Yi Jianlian, reports The Dallas Morning News.
The 6-10 forward from China was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2007 draft by the
Milwaukee Bucks.
Yi, 24, is entering his fifth NBA season, spending time with Milwaukee, the New
Jersey Nets and Washington Wizards over the last four seasons, averaging 8.5
points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
The deal is reported to be for one season.
During the offseason, Yi played for the Chinese national team that qualified
for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Yi will fill the Mavericks’ final available roster spot. Dallas had a spot
available, so no one will have to be released to make room for Yi.
