Master Minded made a return to form by outclassing reigning champion Albertas Run to cruise to victory in the Melling Chase at Aintree on Friday.

Jockey Ruby Walsh produced an assured ride as the 11-2 shot established a strong position heading into the final two hurdles before pulling clear down the straight, winning by seven lengths.

Master Minded gave a disappointing showing at Cheltenham last month but showed much better form over a longer distance, offering Walsh a third victory of the meet.

Trainer Paul Nicholls says ''it was an absolute peach of a ride by Ruby.''
