Marquette players have been taking notes
MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University basketball team is certainly full of performers who excel on the court. After all, the Golden Eagles have made the NCAA Tournament seven years in a row and are coming off back-to-back appearances in the Sweet 16.
But when it comes to musical performance, well, let's just say Marquette's basketball team may not want to form a boy band any time soon.
Another year of Marquette basketball means another taping of Marquette's "Name That Song," a bit played on the scoreboard at the Bradley Center during the season. And this year, the Golden Eagles took the tradition to new heights -- or at least new notes -- in a video released by the basketball program.
The results start off tame, as center Chris Otule actually puts together a passable rendition of Frank Ocean's "Thinking About You." But from there, with the Beats headphones on, things start to get interesting.
Guard Junior Cadougan, who's gained quite a reputation at this point for his array of musical talents -- or at least octaves -- provides a memorable rendition of Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer." Then, there's Juan Anderson and Jake Thomas' take on "End of the Road," which shouldn't beckon Boyz II Men to reunite any time soon.
The video even gives a little taste of what fans can expect at Christmas time, which if Anderson's ugly pink sweater is any indication, should be one of the funnier bits of the season.
We love the videos, guys; just don't quit your day job just yet.
