Marquette overcome by Gibbs, Seton Hall

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Sterling Gibbs scored 24 points, including 11 straight for Seton Hall early in the second half, and had 10 assists to lead the Pirates past Marquette 80-70 on Wednesday night.

Seton Hall started the second half on a 17-2 run and outscored Marquette 28-8 through the first 9 minutes of the second half -- highlighted by three consecutive 3-pointers by Gibbs.

Khadeen Carrington scored 20 points and Brandon Mobley had 13 with nine rebounds for Seton Hall (14-6, 4-4 Big East). Angel Delgado added 12 points and 11 boards.

Jaren Sina hit three of Seton Hall's six first-half 3-pointers as the Pirates held a 32-28 edge at the break. Marquette's Matt Carlino also had three makes from distance in the opening 20 minutes.

Carlino hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points for Marquette (10-10, 2-6). Sandy Cohen III had 11, and Juan Anderson and Derrick Wilson added 10 apiece.
