NEW YORK (AP) -- The Miami Marlins have placed Casey Kotchman on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left hamstring, their third first baseman to be sidelined with an injury.

Miami recalled catcher Kyle Skipworth, the No. 6 pick overall in 2008, from Triple-A New Orleans on Friday to fill out its roster. The Marlins are carrying three catchers because it allows manager Mike Redmond to use backup Miguel Olivo at first base.

With Logan Morrison and Joe Maloney also injured, the Marlins worked out four players at first base before playing the Mets because they have no one on the roster who primarily plays the position -- the four shared three gloves.

Greg Dobbs should get the bulk of the starts at first.

Kotchman signed a minor league contract in February with Miami, his seventh team in 10 seasons.
