Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton to begin rehab at Jupiter
Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday night with Class A Jupiter of the Florida State League, MiLB.com reported.
The web site said Marlins second baseman Donovan Solano and first baseman Joe Mahoney also would begin rehab assignments.
Stanton has been on the disabled list since April 30 after suffering a strained right hamstring. He’s batting .227 with three homers and nine RBI in 20 games this season.
MiLB.com said Stanton was expected to be the designated hitter in the first game game of a double-header against the Clearwater Threshers.
Solano has been sidelined with a strained left intercostal muscle since May 6. He’s hitting .278 with one homer and five RBI in 30 games this season.
Mahoney has been on the DL with a strained hamstring since April 28. He was selected off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles in November. He has one homer and four RBI in nine games with Miami.
