MIAMI (AP) -- Catcher Ronny Paulino has avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year deal with the Florida Marlins.
Paulino hit .272 with eight homers and 27 RBIs in 80 games this year. He was acquired in a trade with San Francisco in March.
Paulino's 2010 contract is worth $1.1 million.
The Marlins also made center fielder Alfredo Amezaga a free agent Saturday night when they decided against offering him a contract for next season. He hit .217 in 27 games this year.
