The Marlins announced Mike Berger and Jeff McAvoy as members of their baseball operations staff Tuesday afternoon.

Berger, who will serve as vice president/assistant general manager, has spent 34 years in professional baseball, including the past five with the Diamondbacks. He was most recently special assistant to the general manager and a Major League scout.

McAvoy, who will serve as director of pro scouting, was a special-assignment scout for the Rays this past season -- his fourth in the organization -- after time as a pro scout for the Astros.

On the final day of the regular season, the Marlins named Michael Hill the new president of baseball operations, taking over for Larry Beinfest. Dan Jennings was promoted to GM.

Dan Hoffsinger and Craig Weissmann were added as director of baseball operations and vice president of player personnel, respectively, this offseason.
