Mangita wins feature on turf at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) Mangita took command inside the furlong pole and went on to win the $58,000 Sand Bar Purse for California-bred fillies and mares by 1 1/2 lengths at Santa Anita on Thursday.
Ridden by Aaron Gryder, Mangita ran one mile on the turf in 1:34.14 and paid $6.40, $3.60 and $2.40.
Highly Rated returned $10.20 and $5.80, while Irenes Jackpot was another 1 3/4 lengths back in third and paid $3.80 to show. Tiz a Kiss, the 8-5 favorite, finished fourth.
The victory, worth $34,000, increased Mangita's career earnings to $107,600, with three wins in seven starts for trainer, breeder and co-owner Bruce Headley.
