Approval was given unanimously Monday by the Orlando city council to rezone nearly eight acres of land across from the Amway Center so that construction on the Orlando Magic's planned $200 million entertainment complex can proceed.
The complex will include 250 hotel rooms, 64,000 square feet of retail space and 100,000 square feet of office space. It would also house the Magic's team headquarters.
No timeline has been determined for the project, although it is expected to be done in phases over the next several years. The site is also near where the city recently announced plans to build a soccer stadium for the MLS-bound Orlando City Soccer Club.
