The lineup combination that the Orlando Magic employed for the majority of the fourth quarter Monday night at Chicago might have looked unfamiliar to anyone who has followed the team this season.
But the outcome was entirely too familiar.
The Magic concluded their worst season away from home in the franchise's 25-year history with a 108-95 loss to the Bulls. A season-high 20 points from Kyle O'Quinn weren't enough to stop them from finishing with a 4-37 road record.
For the second night in a row, both Nikola Vucevic (sore Achilles tendon) and Jameer Nelson (strained left groin) were unavailable. And for the second night in a row, Magic coach Jacque Vaughn made it a point that nobody was on the floor for as many as 30 minutes.
That meant Dewayne Dedmon, Doron Lamb, Tobias Harris, Ronnie Price and E'Twaun Moore played the bulk of the final 12 minutes against the Bulls, who shot better than 50 percent and forced the Magic into 20 turnovers.
The Bulls, who began the night averaging an NBA-low 93.7 points a game, scored 31 points in the second quarter to take a 57-44 halftime lead.
Harris got into early foul trouble and went scoreless until more than three minutes into the fourth quarter. On the positive side, Andrew Nicholson topped the double-figure mark for the second consecutive game in a row, finishing with 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting.
Price, who was averaging barely more than 11 minutes a game in his first season with the Magic, established a personal high in assists with 11 while playing more minutes at point guard than Victor Oladipo.
THE TURNING POINT
The Magic got to within three points of the lead before the Bulls outscored them 14-6 over the final 2:38 of the third quarter.
THE DIFFERENCE MAKER
Mike Dunleavy led the Bulls with 22 points, including three 3-pointers.
STAT OF THE GAME
The loss was the 26th in the Magic's last 27 road games after defeating the Bulls 83-82 in Chicago on Dec. 16. Their only victory came Feb. 26 at Philadelphia.
