Maduka, McClellan lead Tulsa past UTEP

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Kodi Maduka and Eric McClellan scored 14 points apiece and Tulsa defeated UTEP 59-48 Wednesday night.
Maduka also had seven rebounds and Jordan Clarkson added 10 points for the Golden Hurricane (8-9, 1-2 Conference USA), which took the lead for good thanks to a 15-3 run late in the first half. UTEP trailed 28-22 at halftime and stayed close, getting within one point four times in the second half, but couldn't overtake Tulsa, which finished the game with a 13-3 spurt.
Michael Perez led the Miners (8-9, 1-2) with 14 points.
Tulsa shot 46 percent from the field while UTEP made 42 percent of its shots.
