MINNEAPOLIS -- Add another building block to Maya Moore's WNBA MVP candidacy.

The Lynx forward earned her second consecutive Western Conference player of the month accolade after averaging 23 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists in seven August games. It's her third such award this year and fifth in the past six months dating back to the 2013 regular season.

Moore, the top vote-getter for this year's All-Star Game, hasn't missed a contest this season and led the league in scoring with 23.9 points per game -- the third-best single-season mark in WNBA history -- during the regular season. She also finished eighth in rebounding (8.1 per game), 13th in field-goal percentage (48.1 percent), fourth in free-throw percentage (88.4 percent), tied for fourth in steals (1.88 per game) and second in minutes (34.7 per game).

Moore and the 2011 and 2013 league-champion Lynx open up the playoffs at home against the San Antonio Stars at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
