Lynx star Moore named Western Conference Player of the Week
The WNBA announced Monday that Lynx forward Maya Moore has earned its Western Conference Player of the Week honor for July 7-14.
The Player of the Week honor is Moore's second this season and seventh of her decorated career.
Moore began last week with a game-high 30 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter, in a win over Los Angeles. She helped the Lynx knock off Tulsa on July 10 by producing 33 points and 11 rebounds, her third outing this season featuring 30 or more points and 10 or more rebounds. Moore then closed out the week with a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds on July 13, in a victory over Seattle.
This season Moore tops the league in scoring and minutes played, averaging 23.7 points and 34.9 minutes per game. She's also tied for fifth in steals (2.0 per night), seventh in free-throw percentage (88.1 percent) and tied for eighth in rebounds (8.2 per night).
Atlanta's Angel McCoughtry was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
The Lynx, currently 16-6 overall, return to action against Tulsa on Wednesday at noon at Target Center.
