MINNEAPOLIS – The WNBA announced Monday that Lynx forward Maya Moore has been honored as the Western Conference Player of the Week for the games played between Aug. 16 and Aug. 19. It is the first time in her two-year career that Moore has been honored, and she is the first Lynx player to receive the honor this season.
In two games last week, the Lynx went 2-0, defeating the Washington Mystics and the Tulsa Shock. Moore scored 17 points on Friday against Washington and 22 on Sunday against Tulsa. On the week, Moore averaged 19.2 points per game, second-best in the league, and her .609 field goal percentage was sixth-best in the league.
This season, Moore is averaging 15.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Her performances this week helped the Lynx clinch a playoff berth on Sunday.
Indiana’s Tamika Catchings was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
