FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Aaseem Dixon scored 20 points, Gaellan Bewernick converted a go-ahead, three-point play with 1:21 left and Northern Arizona outlasted Idaho State 72-69 on Saturday night.

"I have to give our kids credit today for stepping up in the second half and changing the momentum," NAU coach Jack Murphy said. "We had a lot of great coaching ideas in the second half and it worked in our favor. It's always nice to get a win at home, but especially when we have to hit the road next."
Chris Hansen led Idaho State (4-14, 1-5) with 23 points and Jeffrey Solarin had 12 with 12 boards. The Bengals shot 53.2 percent from the field but gave up 28 points off turnovers.
Northern Arizona trailed for most of the second half until Dixon hit a 3-pointer to go up 64-63. Marcus Bradley made a layup for Idaho State, and Bewernick followed with his three-point play.
Dixon nailed a key jumper for a four-point lead with 31 seconds left and Upshur sank three late free throws.
"I credit the coaches because they told me they have a lot of confidence in me after Thursday's game," Dixon said. "They told me to keep shooting and tonight I was able to get some good looks."
