Lumberjacks rally, advance to Big Sky semis

-- Eric Platt hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 55 seconds left as Northern Arizona rallied from a 16-point second-half deficit to beat Montana State 65-62 in the Big Sky Conference quarterfinals Saturday night.

The fourth-seeded Lumberjacks (19-11) will play either top-seeded Northern Colorado (19-10) or second-seeded Montana (20-9) in the semifinals Tuesday in Greeley, Colo.

Platt hit three straight 3-pointers in the final 3 minutes and finished with 20 points. The senior guard shot 7 of 11 overall and 5 of 9 from long distance, while also pulling down a career-high seven rebounds.

Cameron Jones scored 27 points and had five assists for Northern Arizona, which trailed 52-36 with 10:44 left in the game. Shane Johannsen added 10 rebounds and eight points for the Lumberjacks.

Erik Rush scored 16 points for fifth-seeded Montana State (13-18), which lost for the 10th straight time in Flagstaff.
