Not long after finishing T-6 in the LPGA's CME Group Titleholders Classic last month, Kerr and husband Erik Stevens have become parents to Mason Kerr Stevens. After receiving several congratulatory responses, Kerr shared a little more about her son, indicating he was born via surrogate:
Kerr spoke candidly and at length about becoming a mother for a New York Times story in 2010 about motherhood and married life among LPGA stars: "It's almost like getting a surrogate would be the logical option for us. But I'm such a control freak, I don't know if I could have a surrogate ... I honestly thought I would have become a parent by now," she said.
Now, her life has that added element. And some of her most prominent colleagues showed plenty of happiness on her behalf, as she exchanged tweets with golfers including Meg Mallon, Jessica Korda, Paula Creamer, Suzann Pettersen and Michelle McGann.
In May, Kerr showed how important a part of her life family can be when she won the Kingsmill Championship with her father on hand, then quickly summoned her dad for a hug. "I wasn't going to lose," she said. "Not today. Not with my dad here."
