Louisiana Tech tops UAB 40-24
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Kenneth Dixon ran for three TDs, Cody Sokol passed for two more Saturday, and Louisiana Tech beat UAB 40-24.
The Bulldogs (7-3, 6-0 Conference USA) outgained UAB 428-314 and held Blazers back Jordan Howard, who has rushed for more than 1,000 yards this season, to 148 yards and one score.
Dixon gained 79 yards on 15 carries and scored on runs of 12, 6 and 6 yards. Sokol was 19 of 33 for 200 yards, with an interception and TD passes of 10 yards to Trent Taylor and 11 yards to Carlos Henderson.
Jake Ganus recovered a fumble by Taylor and returned it 56 yards for a score for UAB (5-5, 3-3) and Jamarcus Nelson returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score in the fourth quarter.
Xavier Woods picked off a pass by Cody Clements in the fourth quarter, which the Bulldogs converted into a score.
