RUSTON, La. (AP) -- Raheem Appleby scored 28 points as Louisiana Tech ran away from Northwestern State 93-71 on Wednesday night.

Louisiana Tech (8-2) shot 58.5 percent from the floor, including 5 of 15 (33.3 percent) from beyond the arc. Alex Hamilton added 13 points while Kenneth Smith dished out 12 assists to go with his 12 points.

Northwestern State (3-5) was paced by Jalan West's 28 points while DeQuan Hicks chipped in with 19 points.

The Bulldogs built an 11-point halftime lead largely due to the effort of Appleby, who scored 20 in the opening stanza.

A 12-2 run in the middle of the second half by La Tech turned a 9-point lead into a 19-point advantage at 11:41. The Demons cut the lead to 11 after a Hicks free throw at 5:48, but that's as close as they would get as the Bulldogs pulled away at the end.
