Loss to Beavers drops Badgers out of Top 25
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin's miserable day of football against Oregon State did not go unnoticed -- and unpunished -- by members of the media.
For the first time in three seasons, the Badgers have fallen out of the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Wisconsin, which was ranked No. 13 entering the weekend, dropped into the "others receiving votes" category and is ranked 32nd overall in the latest AP poll, released on Sunday. Oregon State moved up to No. 29.
Wisconsin lost, 10-7, at Oregon State on Saturday afternoon and didn't score until less than two minutes remained in the game. The Badgers gained 207 yards of total offense for their lowest output in five seasons.
UW had been ranked in both the AP Top 25 and the coaches poll for 35 consecutive weeks, the second-longest run in school history. Wisconsin was featured in both polls each week since Dec. 6, 2009. During that span, the Badgers spent 19 weeks ranked in the top 10 of the coaches poll and 18 weeks in the top 10 of the AP poll.
The Badgers were ranked for a school-record 37 consecutive weeks in the AP poll from the start of the 1998 season to Oct. 1, 2000.
Wisconsin was one of four teams to drop out of the AP poll on Sunday after losses, along with Arkansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma State.
