Manager Mike Matheny told reporters in Jupiter Wednesday morning that starter Kyle Lohse will get the ball April 4 when the Cardinals open the regular season in Miami against the Marlins.
The announcement comes hours after a report from Joe Strauss of the Post-Dispatch that ace Chris Carpenter has returned to St. Louis for tests due to renewed discomfort in his neck.
Matheny also confirmed to reporters that Adam Wainwright will start the home opener at Busch Stadium on April 13 against the Chicago Cubs.
