The Detroit Lions signed Nick Harris Tuesday to replace injured Ben Graham as their punter.

Harris, 34, played with the Lions from 2003-10. He averaged 42.7 yards per punt in 11 games last season for Jacksonville.

Harris was signed as a free agent during the off-season by Carolina, but released shortly before the opening game.

Graham, 38, suffered a calf injury in the first quarter of Sunday’s loss at Tennessee. The Lions placed him on the season-ending injured reserve list. He averaged 41.3 yards on six punts in the first three games.

Kicker Jason Hanson was forced into double duty to replace Graham for the last part of the Tennessee game. Harris will be back in a Lions' uniform for Sunday's game against Minnesota at Ford Field.
