Lightning to host Hockey Day in Tampa Bay on Feb. 13

TAMPA BAY, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning will host Hockey Day in Tampa Bay on Saturday, February 13 at Amalie Arena. The full-day event will begin at 9 a.m. with a 30-team CHASE Street Hockey tournament on Ford Thunder Alley and end with a high school hockey matchup, the Lightning Cup Final, at 8 p.m.

Doors for fans will open at 11:15 a.m. for the event at Amalie Arena. The first on-ice event of the day will be the Lightning's practice (subject to change), which will be joined in progress for fans. The day will also be highlighted by a Battle of the Badges game, presented by Bright House Networks, featuring local fire departments versus local police departments. Lightning alumni, including Dave Andreychuk, Brian Bradley, Jassen Cullimore, Mathieu Garon and Chris Kontos, will also participate in the Battle of the Badges game.

"We are excited to host another Hockey Day after the great success of the event one year ago," said Lightning executive director of community hockey development Jay Feaster. "Every program our Community Hockey Department interacts with during the year will be present on Saturday, and we are thrilled to showcase it to the great hockey fans here in the Tampa Bay area."

Andreychuk and fellow Lightning alumni will also participate in a sled hockey exhibition at 3:30 p.m. U.S. Olympic gold medalist Anne Schleper, along with teammates Allison Thunstrom and Alex Rigsby, will also be in attendance participating in different events during the day. The Honda LHSHL All-Star Showcase will feature skills and thrills of the top Bay Area high school players at 6:15 p.m. The culmination of Hockey Day will feature two local high school teams facing each other in the Lightning Cup Final at 8 p.m. The Lightning Cup will also be aired live on Bright House Sports Network.

Hockey Day in Tampa Bay tickets are a donation of $5 in advance (http://hockeydayintampa2016.eventbrite.com) or $10 on the day of the event, with all proceeds being donated to the Tony Rolon Hockey Scholarship Fund, Police Athletic League, Camp Hopetake and the Lightning Sled Hockey program. Other free activities will take place on Ford Thunder Alley during the day, including different food trucks and the Shriners Hospitals for Children prosthetic simulator. Bauer will have a fan area outside the arena for fans to learn hockey skills from the Team USA ball hockey team.

Parking on Saturday for the event in most lots will be a special price of $5. Hockey Day will also feature a Lightning used equipment sale which will be located behind the official team store, Tampa Bay Sports. Below is a full schedule of events taking place at Amalie Arena:
